Common Samsung Dryer Error Code messages on LED display

Each model will have its own tech sheet with Error Codes related to that specific unit but they are more or less generic across all different Samsung models, however if you need to access diagnostics mode of your model try to find a user manual or tech sheet under a kick plate of your dryer or under the top cover.

Error Fault CodeDryer ProblemRepair Steps
9C1 , 9E , 2E , 9E1Fluctuating Voltage ErrorIf you get this error, check that the dryer is on its own circuit and not using an extension cord. If it’s an electric dryer, confirm the power cord has been installed properly and the correct voltage is being supplied. If you take a model out of the country it was sold for, you may get this error, as power grids and their regulations vary between countries.
tSTemperature Sensor (shorted)Unplug the dryer and use a volt/ohm meter to test the resistance of the thermistor. If the resistance is more than 40,000 ohms, replace the thermistor. If the resistance is 10,000 ohms, replace the wire harness, if damaged. If the wire harness is okay, replace the electronic control board.
tOTemperature Sensor (open)Unplug the dryer and use a volt/ohm meter to check the resistance of the thermistor. The thermistor should measure around 10K ohms (10,000 ohms) of resistance at room temperature (77 degrees). If the resistance of the thermistor is higher than 40K ohms, replace it. If the resistance of the thermistor is normal, check the wire harness and replace the wire harness if damaged. If the wire harness is okay, replace the electronic control board.
dC , dE , dF , do, dO , 1 DC , 1 dFDoor related issuesThese are related to the door, its latch, and the sensors that detect whether they are secured correctly. Check that the latch is securely fixed, laundry or other items are not caught in the door, and the door is closed and secured correctly.
FEPower Supply FrequencyHave an electrician or your electrical power supplier check the frequency of your electrical power supply. If the dryer is getting the 60 Hz power it requires, replace the electronic control board or noise filter.
HE or hE or HCHeating Error (electric dryer)See if a house circuit breaker for the dryer is tripped; the dryer won’t heat if a leg of the 240-volt power supply is off. Unplug the dryer and check the wiring connections on the heating element. Reconnect any loose wires and replace the wire harness if damaged. Check the heating element for damage and replace the heating element if defective.
EtControl BoardUnplug the dryer for 5 minutes to reset the control board. If the code returns after you restore power to the dryer, replace the electronic control board.
AC , EEE , AE , AE4 , 1 ACCommunication ErrorThis code means the dryer’s internal components cannot communicate with each other. Shut off the dryer for 60 seconds, and then turn it back on again.

LO or FL

Door locking mechanism errorIf the door fails to unlock after seven tries once the washer cycle is complete, you’ll get the LO or FL code. Begin by unplugging the washer, and force open the door. Check the wiring connections to the door lock/switch, and tighten if needed. Forcing the door open might damage the door lock/switch, which is often made of plastic. However, it is simple to replace and much less expensive than calling a technician.
dE , dE1 , EdDoor latch malfunctionFirst, the most obvious thing is to close the door tightly Then make sure that no obstruction prevents you from closing the door. If the error is still shows up, then something is broken. The connection is broken between the control triac of the locking assembly and the controller. You need to check the circuit with a multimeter and check the contacts for continuity. Something is faulty in the lock assembly, for example, the lock or the hinges are loose. Usually you can repair the lock yourself. Nowadays the lock assembly is a complex part including electronics, so you should call a technician for help. The door look sensor is defective. The controller of the locking mechanism is faulty. You need to replace it.
1E , E7 , 1CWater level sensor issue aka pressure sensorDo a hard power reset for 10 -15 mins. Pull the pressure tube off the pressure switch and blow in it to clear blockage. Ensure proper wire connection between pressure sensor and PCB Replace the pressure switch Run an empty cycle with hot water only.
3E , 3E1 , 3E2 , 3E3 , 3E4 EA , EB    No signal from the drive motor tachometer aka hall sensor (on some models only)The load is excessive, so the motor is overloaded. The circuit containing the tacho sensor is open, or the contacts are bad. The tacho washer fixing the coil has broken loose, so the sensor has popped out of its seating. Check ground wire. The tachogenerator is faulty. It needs to be replaced The motor may be faulty as well. Check resistance across motor winding. It needs assessment and repair or replacement There are problems at the other end of the Tachometer circuit: something is wrong with the controller
E4 , E1Water supply error. The appliance is not detecting that the unit is filling with water.Check water supply is turned on and that there is adequate water pressure (min: 0.5 bar, max: 8 bar). Check to see if the water hoses are not kinked. Check Inlet filters inside end of Water Valve. If water supply is ok call tech support.
5E , E2 , 5CWater drain issue. Pump not drainingCheck drainage pump filter for blockages (e.g. lint, coins hair, clips) Check drain hose and waste connection for kinks and blockages. Then select a spin cycle to drain the remaining water in the appliance. The wiring is damaged or the contacts are disconnected. We mean the contacts of the circuits containing the controller and the pump or the pressure switch. A similar problem may occur in the power circuit of the pump motor The drain pump or its impeller has failed. You need to call a specialist for checking and replacing the coil or the entire motor
UEUnbalanced load Error• This is not a fault. The appliance is detecting an unbalanced load and is stopping the spin for safety reasons. • To help prevent this from occurring please redistribute washing by adding or removing items to ensure a more balance load. • Single large/heavy items such as bath mats or large towels are unlikely to spin on their own so please add 2/3 additional towels and put on another spin cycle.
SUDToo much foam detected• This is not a fault. • The appliance will usually cure this fault on its own, however if it does not you will need to run either an “Eco drum clean” cycle (some models) or a 90°C cotton cycle with no detergent or washing load. • To prevent this from happening please reduce the quantity of detergent used.
8E , 8E1   8C , 8C1Over current due to VRT and vibration sensor malfunctionThe sensor is installed on the models produced in 2013.

You might see your washer reset cycle timer at some point and never completes the cycle The circuit containing the sensor and the controller is open. It requires wiring repair and contact tightening The sensor is faulty. It needs to be replaced. The control board is malfunctioning. Then contact the service center
9E1 , 9E2
9C Uc
PH1
The main voltage level mismatchFirst, use different outlet or receptacle to eliminate bad electrical connection. Replace the old wiring in the house, repair the sockets, because error 9E1 indicates a power mismatch. Basically, the washing machine has not enough amount of electricity supplied. Run washer through diagnostics mode and recalibration if you model has one. Switch off the appliance at the mains then wait 30 seconds. Switch appliance back on again and start a new programme.
AE , AC , ACb , 13ESignal communication error between Main PCB and Sub PCBThe circuit between the boards is open. It requires checking with a multimeter, wiring repair, tightening of contacts and connectors The information display board may be faulty. It needs a diagnosis, repair or replacement The control board is malfunctioning. Then contact the service center
bE , bE1 , bE2 , bE3 bC , bC2 , b2 EbMotor issueThe washer may not start due to many reasons. The motor may not rotate the drum due to the fault of the triac (then you need to check its circuit, the actual sensor, and the controller). The other possible reasons are the faulty tacho sensor (see the description of the 3E error) or internal motor failures. Sometimes these errors are a very easy to fix, simply shut down your washing machine and it should clear, holding down the power button for too long (around 13 seconds) is what will cause this error code to trigger.
tE , EC tE1 , tE2 , tE3 tC1 , tC2 , tC3 EcTemperature sensor issuePossible fix for this problem: First, make sure that the wiring between the temperature sensor or the heating element and the control board has continuity. Check if all the contacts and connectors are connected. No signal from the sensor may indicate its malfunction. You need to replace the faulty sensor The relay of the heating element got stuck. It needs replacement as well The controller of the lock assembly is faulty. It requires professional diagnostics and controller replacement

Overfilling problemThe main reasons are bad draining, sensor failure, and wrong detergent. If you are using a powder not suitable for this washing cycle, try changing the detergent. If you have exceeded the required portion of the detergent for one washing cycle, try reducing the portion the next time you start the cycle. The water is not draining. See the description of the 5E error The pressure switch is broken or its circuit is open. You need to check the circuit with a multimeter, check and replace the switch The same is true for the inlet filling valve The controller is malfunctioning. Call a journeyman.
